Title Embroidered blouse
Description Hand-woven embroidered linen blouse. The sleeve pattern starts with a broad, multi-coloured, earth tone, embroidered section into which metallic thread and metal sequins have been incorporated into a very fine pattern of geometric shapes. The central section features brighter, primary colours in larger geometric shapes. the bottom section features multi-coloured diamond and square motifs arranged in a grid and bordered on either side with a finely embroidered chain of floral motifs. Cuffs are gathered and finished with a spiral hem. The front and back panels of the bodice are embroidered with two vertical strips featuring a chain of floral motifs. The edge of the neckline is finished with red and burgundy embroidered thread and then gathered on a string which ties in front. Bukovyna, late nineteenth century.
