Description | Embroidered linen blouse. Sleeve pattern starts at the top with horizontal, burgundy stripes alternating with gold and silver beaded stripes. Central pattern is predominantly black with burgundy and orange accents. The bottom section is white on white vertical pattern with burgundy accents and silver, metal sequins. Two, burgundy, vertical stripes are embroidered on the front chest of the blouse and on the back. Straight cut sleeves, no cuffs. Bukovyna, late nineteenth century. Embroidery stitches: cross stitch (khrestyky), satin stitch (hlad'), reverse satin stitch (nyzynka). |
