A local fellow told Brian he could get him some local jerseys as a trade. This T-shirt is what he received in exchange for one of the jerseys. It was supposedly worn during an international game.

This T-shirt is as an example of exchange between Canada and USSR during the Soviet era. Also, in Brian's own words, "an example of how naive Canadian student can get stuck with a damaged shirt in exchange for a perfectly good hockey jersey."
